Real Estate Development Project Manager
Position Summary
Lead and coordinate the successful execution of real estate development projects from acquisition through completion. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical, financial, and organizational skills who can manage timelines, oversee consultants, and ensure high-quality project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Management
- Oversee the full lifecycle of development projects including feasibility, design, entitlements, permitting, construction, and turnover
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and milestone tracking
- Coordinate third-party vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and reporting
- Due Diligence & Entitlements
- Conduct site and market evaluations in collaboration with acquisition teams
- Manage environmental reviews, zoning analysis, and entitlement applications
- Lead community engagement efforts and public process coordination
- Liaise with city officials, planning boards, and regulatory agencies to secure approvals
- Design & Construction Oversight
- Facilitate coordination between developers and internal stakeholders during RFP and design phases
- Oversee permitting processes and ensure compliance with municipal requirements
- Monitor project execution to ensure alignment with design and quality standards
- Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets and track expenditures
- Support capital planning and manage funding sources
- Analyze development returns and contribute to financing strategies
- Work with funding tools such as LIHTC, TIF, and Opportunity Zones (OZ)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or related field 4–7 years of experience in real estate development, project management, or construction. Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-phase development projects. Strong understanding of zoning, permitting, entitlement processes, and building codes.
- Preferred Attributes
- Master’s degree in real estate development (MRED), Finance, or related field.
- Experience with public-private partnerships and/or affordable housing development.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans with financial underwriting and development pro formas.
- Strong leadership presence with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
